Try Something New Tuesday: Quilting

Try Something New Tuesday

My mum and dad bought me a sewing machine for Christmas and ever since I unwrapped it I have been sewing non-stop. I love my new-found craft and have discovered so many things I want to make.

Quilting is something I have been afraid of for some time, it looks so complicated and I never thought I would be able to do it, let alone follow through with an entire project… unless I did it as a TRY SOMETHING NEW TUESDAY!

I chose this adorable quilted purse design from Cath Kidston’s book Sew! (I highly recommend this book for beginners), went to Spotlight and picked out some pretty vintage floral fabric, ric rac, embroidery thread and away I went.  I quickly realised it wasnt nearly as hard as it ‘seamed’!

Surprisingly the project only took me about a day of on/off sewing to complete and it looks super professional thanks to the quilting. Not bad for my fourth ever sewing project!

What did you guys try this Tuesday?
